Flood Insurance in Dallas & Fort Worth, TX

Maintaining and caring for a home and/or a business is challenging and requires large investments of time, effort, and resources. Making these investments is often done with readiness since maintaining homes and businesses is usually enjoyable for people, but these investments come with risks. If un-mitigated, these risks can translate into significant financial losses. Insurance mitigates these risks and keeps homeowners and business owners secure. In most cases, homeowners policies and business policies provide the insurance, but these policies don’t fully protect against damages.

Texas is in a flood zone.  Floods in the state can be caused by many things, including runoff, overflows, poor drainage, and storms. The damages that floods cause are often severe and these damages have terrific financial costs. For homeowners and commercial enterprises in the Longhorn state, flood insurance is essential, and this type of insurance is not provided in homeowners and business policies. At Princeton Insurance we have flood program that provides full protection and gives clients the freedom to tailor policies to individual needs. This program keeps clients covered for the right price.

Coverages tailored to you

Flood insurance is written through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) but independent agents can sell it. An advantage of purchasing through an independent agent is that he or she can optimize a policy for maximum cost savings and benefits. Captive agents and the federal government cannot do this. Another advantage is that an independent agent has a greater chance of being local and therefore of understanding the needs of residents of and businesses in an area. At Princeton Insurance we’re independent and local, and we ensure that each flood insurance policy we write is of optimal value to policyholder.

Coverage options for flood insurance are determined largely by the federal government, as are rates, limits, and deductibles. This does not mean that there are not variations in different flood policies. In fact there are significant variations, and as a result flood insurance policies are unique to individual policyholders. Coverage provided by flood insurance protects against structure and property-related damages and injuries.

The coverage options we provide include:

Building Property

  • Building and foundation
  • Electrical and plumbing systems
  • Central air conditioning equipment, furnaces, and water heaters
  • Refrigerators, stoves, and built-in appliances such as dishwashers
  • Permanently-installed carpeting over unfinished floor
  • Window blinds
  • Dethatched garages, up to 10% of building property coverage

  • Personal belongings such as clothing, furniture, and electrical equipment
  • Curtains
  • Portable air conditioners
  • Portable microwave ovens and portable dishwashers
  • Carpets not permanently installed over unfinished floor
  • Washers and dryers
  • Valuable items such as original artwork and furs up to $2,500 in value

In addition to what’s listed above, debris removal, loss-avoidance measures, increased cost of compliance (flood-proofing, relocation, evacuation, etc.) and other coverages are available. Replacement coverage cost is not available for personal property since replacement values are sometimes difficult to gauge for personal property. Despite this, we will help you cover your property up to acceptable limits.

In Northeast Texas, floods can occur as a result of a number of things, including rainfall, snow melt, runoff, and storms. These and other exposures can cause damages, and these damages are covered under your flood insurance policy. Also included are damages caused by erosion due to currents or uncommon water cycles. Mud flows and mudslides can also be covered; just ask your agent.
